Mindfulness Practicing Group
Tradition: Mahayana, Zen - Vietnamese Plum Village
Currently the group meets at the Albert Park FlexiSchool in Milton every Monday evening from 6:45pm to 8:30pm.
Email : lanthuan@hotmail.com
This is an English speaking group for lay people.
Friends who attend the group are invited to learn the art of mindful living.
Mindfulness is the key teaching of Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay), who is based in Plum Village, a community of practice in Southern France.
Through mindfulness, we can learn to live in the present moment instead of in the past or in the future. Dwelling in the present moment, according to Thay, is the only way to truly develop peace, both in onesself and in the world.
A typical mindful meditation evening comprises two parts. The first includes mindful movements, sitting and walking meditation. The second part varies and may offer either a Dharma talk by Thich Nhat Hanh (DVD) or deep relaxation, the practice of beginning anew, singing meditation songs or sharing from the heart.
