The Kwan Um School of Zen is an international organisation of more than 100 centres and groups, founded by Zen Master Seung Sahn, the first Korean Zen Master to live and teach in the West. The School's purpose is to make the practice of Zen Buddhism available to an ever growing number of students throughout the world.
Zen Master Dae Jin, Abbot of Gye Rhong Sahn International Zen Centre, South Korea, has spent more than 20 years living in Korea, during which time he has overseen the construction of the main Buddha Hall and other Mu Sang Sa Temple projects and taught many visiting students.
Zen Master Dae Jin received ordination as a Bhikkhu in the Chogye Order of Korean Buddhism in 1986. After serving as his personal secretary for 20 years and travelling extensively together with him, Zen Master Dae Jin received Dharma transmission from Zen Master Seung Sahn.
Zen Master Dae Jin, accompanied by Bo-Haeng Sunim (head monk of Musangsa) visited Queensland in October/November 2009. He gave dharma talks at Griffith University Multi-faith Hall and Bond University to a group of psychologists and various Buddhists in Queensland and conducted a precepts ceremony during his visit.
